Our Running Story

Josh & Becky:
To make a long story short, we had our first date in October of 2002.  We got engaged in November, and got married in March 2003.  We have 4 kids, ages 8 (boy), 6 (girl), 4 (boy), and 2 (boy).  After being married for 10 years, we finally found a hobby we both enjoy: running.

Josh:
I started running track back in junior high school and added cross country in high school.  Then in college, I began running longer distances, and was training for the St. George Marathon in 2002.  Unfortunately, I got a stress fracture in my foot two weeks shy of the race that made it so I couldn't run.  But there was a silver lining: that was the weekend I took Becky on our first date.

Fast forward 10 years.  I've run a couple races here and there, but nothing like the good old days.  When Becky started running again, she inspired me to dust off my running shoes and keep up with her.  Now here we are.

Becky:
I really started running in February 2013.  I have tried to get into running many times over the last 10 years or so.  I was so out of shape, that after a mile, I would just about drop dead.  I didn't realize then that I was approaching it all wrong.

Finally, I found a training program perfect for me.  I started running 3 times a week; literally one minute on and 2 minutes off, until I very gradually was running 30 minutes straight.  It took me just over 7 weeks to accomplish that goal, and was worth every minute.  Now I am setting PR's and new goals!  And I love [almost] every mile!
