Weekly Workout Wrap-Up, A Couple Of Old Fogies

It was another sad week.  Josh's ankle is getting a little better, but still sore.  And my foot is still wonky.  We are starting to get nervous because we have a big race this Wednesday!  Josh is planning to do his first half in a long time, and I am doing my first 10K race.

On Tuesday, I decided to run on my sore foot just to see how it went.  I didn't feel any pain until about mile 2.5.  Then it really hurt, but I could still run through the pain.  I am hoping that during the race, the pain won't be more than I can handle.

Josh went to the Dr. to see if he could get a cortisone shot, but he advised against it.  He did say that Josh could still run on it and it wouldn't do any further damage.  So basically, if we can both run through our pain, we'll be fine.  Hopefully.

Weekly Workout Wrap-Up

This week's work-outs were pretty sad.  But we have good excuses.  Josh is still recovering from a minor ankle injury, so he didn't run at all.  As for me, I did my speed mile on Monday, then my regular 5K run on Wednesday.  After that run, the outside of my left foot started to hurt.  It's been sore ever since and I have no idea why.  I can't even walk on it without a slight limp.  So I am also resting it this weekend, and hopefully by Monday Josh and I will both be back to normal.

Becky's Got New Shoes, Pretty Pink New Shoes...

...Becky's Got New Shoes On Today!

(That was a little diddy my Mama used to sing to me whenever I would get new shoes.)

That beautiful picture on the right?  I know, gross!!  I thought it was a bruise, but when I took off my nail polish, I found out it's dried blood.  And my toe-nail is mostly detached.  Cute, huh?

So we decided it was high time to get me some new running shoes.  After talking to the experts, I found out my other ones were way too small.  Apparently, you are supposed to get running shoes at least a size bigger than your normal shoes.  It makes sense.  Your feet swell when you run, and push forward, especially when running downhill.  I tried on at least 10 pair, and ended up with the Asics Gel Cumulus.  They brought me out a purple and neon green pair.  Gag.  I asked them if they had any other colors in this style (which happened to be 20% off) and luckily they had PINK!  I know color really doesn't matter, but it does.

I am so glad I have these and am finally able to run regularly now!

Tendonitis...Not Cool!

My first running injury.  After "googling" tendonitis, I realized that I only have 6 months to live.  Ok, not really.  But I love how it says it's most common in the 40-60 year old range.  My body is probably close to that.  I am new to running.  My body isn't used to all this exercise.  It really hurts though, and I have the Ogden 5K in a few weeks!  I hope I can get it healed and stronger by then!
